Popular flowers and their meanings

We all send flowers at some or other point during the year.  Whether it be Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day or simply a birthday or arrival of a new baby.  There are a number of popular flowers to send and your florist will generally have these in abundance.  Some of them are even available out of season.  The important thing to know is the meaning these flowers carry.  Many years ago people sent flowers as a way of sending secret messages.  These days, however, a lot of people have forgotten the messages.

Rose Garden Bouquet

Roses are one of, if not the most, popular flowers.  You should know by now that, for the most part, roses send a message of some or other form or degree of love.  Red roses represent a deep, passionate kind of love.  Purple roses represent love at first sight and yellow roses are sent as a token of friendship.  White roses symbolize purity and pink ones appreciation.  The positive message sent by roses all depends on the colour you choose so think carefully before you choose a particular colour.

Tulips Bouquet

Tulips are another popular flower.  Like roses, red tulips send a message of deep and passionate love.  Also, like roses, the general theme for most tulips is that of some or other form of love and affection.  Yellow tulips represent a love that is without hope.  Most people, when sending tulips, prefer to either send a bunch of red ones or a mixed bouquet consisting of at least five or six different colours.

Orchids are an expensive choice but can you really put a price on quality?  They are known to be the longest lasting of all cut flowers and the best thing about them is that they can stand alone just fine.  In other words, you don’t need to buy and entire bouquet of orchids.  Being such beautiful flowers themselves, orchids carry a message of beauty and love.

Gerbera daisies are both colourful and large.  They are far more beautiful than your average daisy and their colours are definitely more striking.  If you send somebody a bouquet of gerbera daisies, you will be sending them a message of loyalty, innocence and love.

Designer flowers

The sunflower is the perfect choice to brighten any room.  No matter the style or other decorations in your home, sunflowers will fit in just fine.  They also need not be accompanied by any other blooms.  Just a simple, small bunch of sunflowers is more than enough to do the trick.  They are perfect to send as a bouquet for somebody who is ill or even as a message of congratulations.  They indicate your support and loyalty too.

Within the list above is a flower for every occasion.  No matter what you are celebrating, a suitable message can always be sent via a fresh flower delivery.  Remember, you don’t need to wait for an occasion just to send flowers to somebody.  The best flowers are those that come unexpectedly and for no apparent reason!
